I am a self-taught experimental artist working in a variety of media. My specialty is hand-made rock, mineral and gemstone-based paint. I collect colorful rocks and minerals, many of them local to the mountains of western North Carolina. I crush them in a granite mortar and pestle and use a variety of acrylic media to create textured paint. I call it Earthpaint, where cave painting meets canvas. I also work in acrylics, pastels, crayon, even nail polish: anything I can use to create unusual works of art.
