DECLARATION

OF

PEACE

We, the artists of the world, in order to promote peace, do hereby oppose the following mechanisms of violence:

We hold in utmost contempt the notions of violence as justice and war as holy, and rally for the cause of human dignity and freedom.

We invalidate the belief that a person's worth can be determined by the size of his bank account, the color of his skin, or the "rightness" of his religious beliefs, and recognize these ideas as borne of an inferior and false superiority.

We challenge the use of violence as justified by these flawed measures of worth, and uphold the rights of all mankind to live in peace and freedom.

We repudiate the argument that war is an instrument of peace, that freedom can be imposed through force.

We oppose the predation of wealth upon the original peoples of the world, the rape and enslavement of its citizens, and the theft of its natural resources.

We hold in contempt the belief that prosperity is measured by the poverty and degradation of others, and uphold the idea that true wealth is not built through exploitation, but by the betterment of all peoples.

We recognize that the economics of predation are the root of all violence caused by war, and promote the economics of peace, in which growth and progress are not measured in relative terms, but by the capacity to uplift and empower all peoples of the world.

We declare, as the artists of the world, that economic justice and peace are not utopian dreams, but attainable goals, and offer the power of our collective vision to these ends.
